Social Media Editor

ICHE and ASHE are each looking for a dynamic Social Media Editor to join our Editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the journal’s editorial team and use your social media skills to help grow and develop the journal.

The aim of the Social Media Editor role is to increase awareness of and engagement with the assigned journal using social media. This will be achieved through the Social Media Editor promoting a steady flow of articles, news, and related content onto the journal’s social media account(s); promotion of journal Special Issues and Themed Collections; and social media-driven journal engagement.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including gender, age, and ethnicity. We want an editorial board that reflects our values of equality and diversity with representation from a range of backgrounds. We will strongly consider applications from Early Career applicants interested in gaining experience in scientific publishing.

General Responsibilities/ Key Performance Indicators

  • 3-5 original tweets per week to ensure a manageable workload.
  • Use relevant hashtags in article tweets to promote the journal.
  • Include an image with every tweet to increase visibility. Social Media Editor will be given access to a Canva account but can create images at their discretion.
  • Post Visual Abstracts submitted by authors of published articles.
  • Tag authors, or if not on Twitter, university/department/press office. Tag @SHEA_epi when appropriate
  • In times of slow content flow, retweet popular articles from the archive.
  • Retweeting authors announcing the publication of their articles in the journal.
  • Respond to comments and queries, or elevate requests/queries to Editorial Office as needed.
  • Attend monthly or quarterly Editor meetings and provide updates on Social Media activity.

Each journal’s Social Media Editor will receive complimentary registration to both SHEA Spring and IDWeek.
