SHEA is disappointed to no longer be part of the ACIP Workgroups, as we have valued the opportunity to contribute our expertise in infection prevention and public health, particularly as it pertains to vaccines to protect healthcare personnel and the patients they serve. We believe our participation has contributed valuable real-world insights that support evidence-based policymaking, enhancing vaccine policy and immunization schedules in the United States—without presenting a conflict of interest. SHEA looks forward to continuing our engagement with ACIP public meetings through SHEA’s formal liaison, Dr. Preeti Mehrotra, and remains committed to the development of vaccine policy that ensures the best outcomes for healthcare personnel and their patients. As ACIP’s structure continues to evolve, SHEA is engaging in other initiatives to ensure that healthcare personnel vaccination remains a priority in parallel efforts led by various groups.
We remain steadfast in our mission to advancing public health, prevent vaccine preventable diseases, and mitigate adverse outcomes through vaccination.
