The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) is committed to offering its members and other healthcare professionals the opportunity to participate in valuable educational activities that address identified practice gaps, optimize patient care, and facilitate advances in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship across diverse healthcare settings including acute care, long term care, specialty care, etc.
The Continuing Education (CE) Program’s mission is consistent with SHEA’s overall mission, which includes team-based education that focuses on prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance to advance the fields of healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship. The CE program is designed for all members of the healthcare team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, infection preventionists, healthcare epidemiologists, microbiologists, infectious diseases specialists, and other healthcare professionals interested in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship. To facilitate that mission, SHEA has helped define best practices in healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship worldwide since its founding in 1980.
The Expected Results:
SHEA assesses the effectiveness of the CE program through evaluation outcome assessment tools that measure changes in the healthcare team skills/strategies and when applicable, measure changes in performance in practice.
