CDC – Critical Infection Prevention Guidance Updates
Last Friday, CDC issued several updates related to infection prevention in healthcare settings. The updates contained in these documents will also affect several other guidance documents that overlap with this content.

SHEA Collaborates with Stakeholders in Advocacy of Scientific Integrity
Last week, SHEA joined other stakeholders in letters to the White House to the Executive Branch officials imploring them to protect the integrity of science throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. These messages include:
  • A July 14 letter on behalf of public health stakeholders to Vice President Mike Pence in defense of science and the best available data to guide the COVID-19 response which must include the leadership of Dr. Anthony Fauci;
  • A July 16 letter on behalf of SHEA and APIC to Vice President Mike Pence, Coronavirus Task Force Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, and HHS Secretary Alex Azar emphasizing the importance of using NSHN for reporting COVID-19 data;
  • A July 17 letter on behalf of public health stakeholders to Vice President Mike Pence, Coronavirus Task Force Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, and HHS Secretary Alex Azar recommending immediate reversal of the decision to eliminate the use of NSHN for COVID-19 reporting.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Diabetes: The Importance of Prevention, Management, and Support (CDC COCA)
