We are asking SHEA Advocates to contact their senators and tell them to vote "no" on any vote or motion that would help pass legislation that would lead to the repeal of the Prevention and Public Health Fund.  Stakeholder organizations across the spectrum of healthcare have been part of an effort to stop the repeal of the Prevention Fund.  We want you to join this effort and call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 urging your Senators not to repeal the Prevention Fund.

Below is a script to help you with your messaging when you contact your senators’ offices. We need all members to call all senators to register their opposition to repealing the Prevention Fund

Good morning. My name is [YOUR NAME] and I am a [TITLE] at [YOUR INSTITUTION]. I am also a member [ALTERNATE LANGUAGE: SHEA LEADERSHIP TITLE] of The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. I am calling to express my strong opposition to the Better Care Reconciliation Act or any legislation that repeals the Prevention and Public Health Fund of the Affordable Care Act. I am asking you to please vote “no” on these bills. The Prevention and Public Health Fund provides funding to [YOUR HOME STATE/INSTITUTION IF APPLICABLE] to detect and prevent healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistant bacteria in healthcare facilities. Without this critical funding, our state’s  ability to track, identify, and address outbreaks at hospitals, nursing homes, and other places where healthcare is delivered will be severely weakened. Again, I am urging you to please vote ‘no’ on any legislation that repeals the Prevention Fund. Please protect the citizens in our state. Thank you for your time.
