SHEA and its members work to improve patient outcomes by applying evidence-based epidemiologic principles and prevention strategies in healthcare settings to maintain the utmost quality of patient care and healthcare worker safety.  Humphreys will use her expertise and experience working on key health issues to raise the profile of SHEA’s mission and enable the society to expand its current programming.

“This is a critical time our nation’s healthcare system, with patient safety and quality of care at the forefront of the debate.  SHEA’s commitment to the prevention of healthcare-associated infections is impressive, and I’m honored to be selected as the next Executive Director,” said Eve Humphreys, MBA, CAE, executive director of SHEA. “I am looking forward to working with SHEA and its members to further the impact and implementation of programs and strategies aimed at making healthcare safer for everyone.”
