The SHEA Education and Research Foundation, and the SHEA Research Committee are pleased to announce the availability of a new research grant award, the SHEA Research Scholars Award. This grant will award up to $40,000 to an early investigator within 5 years of completion of training to conduct a research project that addresses knowledge gaps and new challenges in healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship research. The winner will be announced and presented with the award at IDWeek 2019 in Washington, DC

Key Dates:

  • May 1: Application submission period begins.
  • June 17: Application submission period closes.
  • August 1: Winner is announced and notified
  • October 2019: Winner presented with grant award at IDWeek

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants are early investigators who possess a MPH, PhD, PharmD, or MD or similar terminal degree, and are within 5 years of completion of training. Applicants will submit project ideas to be executed with the oversight of a mentor. Should the Research Committee receive more than one application that scores high during the application evaluation period, and they are within the $40,000 limit, multiple grants will be awarded within a single grant cycle.
